Fixed Benefit Health Plans (Indemnity Insurance)

Traditional major medical plans, like what is available under the ACA, often come with high yearly deductibles and coinsurance that you must pay before the insurance pays anything. Fixed Benefit plans are different. At North American Health Plans, many of our fixed benefit plans have NO deductible, and others have deductibles that only apply to inpatient hospital stays.

Indemnity health plans are intended to give you great freedom when choosing health care providers and facilities. If you choose an indemnity health plan through North American Health plans, you will be able to see any provider and use any facility for covered services. You don’t need referrals to see specialists. Plans pay a fixed amount regardless of the cost. Most plans have a one-year wait for pre-existing conditions.

Short-Term Plans

Short-term health insurance was originally designed to help people who needed temporary medical insurance while searching for a long-term solution. Many people now get short-term health insurance as an affordable alternative to the full cost of a Marketplace (ACA/Obamacare) plan. The duration ranges from one month to one year and is guaranteed renewable for up to three years depending on the state.

Since you may still need coverage for unexpected situations, like intensive care, surgery, or hospitalization, consider a short-term health plan.

Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC)

Minimum essential coverage is a low-cost solution that’s much cheaper than traditional insurance. It’s defined as any coverage that provides only a limited set of benefits. There are many options for minimum essential coverage, some of which include:

  • QSEHRA plans
  • Standalone MEC plans that meet individual mandate requirements and are sold year-round
  • Metallic, Bronze, and Silver options are sold year-round

MEC plans can be added to Indemnity and Short-Term Medical.
